Thankful Thursday!!

It's Thursday! Wahoo! A day like any other day...one to cherish and savor, and squeeze until you get every morsel out of it! :) Actually...every day should be that...but it IS fun to have one day a week to actually POST about the thankfulness we should have at all times!

I am thankful for all the "usual" things...my home, my precious treasure of a child, my job, my family, friends, and YOU, my bloggy friends...to whom I sometimes feel closer to than the people I see everyday! :) Strange how that works...how I chat with "them" about this and that, but I pour out my heart to "you." Wierd, really, when you think about it!

I am thankful for the two new tires on my car. Thankful that we did not have a serious blowout but instead had one go flat overnight. Much safer that way, eh? I am thankful that I had the money in my checking acct. to pay for them. I am thankful that I think even with that huge (to me) chunk gone, that I WILL be able to pay my rent for next month. AND pay my utilities, as well. That's God, friends...cuz usually there is NO cushion available!!

I am thankful that when we went to the Emergency Clinic, that Shao's wrist was just sprained, and she just needed to continue what I had been having her do...rest it, ice it, take Ibuprofen 4 times a day. I am thankful that I just typed that, which reminded me that I have to run to the store and get a bottle to take into school for her! So...I'm outta here! :) Might be back, because for sure, I have more things to be thankful for! But gotta go take care of that, before my senility sets in again, and I forget! :)

Snow Day!

By 8PM last night, we already were informed that there would be no school today...thus, no work for me, either! So we slept in, had lunch instead of breakfast (yep, it was that late!) and have been doing some way overdue straightening up, in between just goofing off! :) Right now it is not snowing, but they are saying more is on the way. The wind has REALLY kicked in, and it is dark now, so it is beginning to ice up. I imagine we will have a delay tomorrow morning, for school, but I do think we WILL have it. The storm hasn't been quite as bad as predicted, so here's hoping it won't be too bad tonight, before it ends!

I am starting, finally, to feel better. This has been a long process, which kind of took me off guard. Somehow I thought I would come home from the hospital, and things would just move forward smoothly. Silly me! Instead, it has been 3 steps forward and 2 back. Last weekend saw me feeling miserable, and back on pretty much only liquids. But for the past 3 days I have been feeling fairly well, so I am praying that the worst is behind me!

I have two more days of work, and then we have a week off. Not what I can afford, but nothing I can do about it! Thankfully, I should be getting my income tax refund back any day, and so I am not worried. I am, in fact, extremely grateful. It is a pretty big amount, and if I am careful, will keep us going for months! I am in the red every month, so I can use it to make up the deficit each month. YIPPEE JESUS!!!!!

I AM going to take a little and do a few things...for myself, and for Shao. I am going to do a little clothes shopping for me...I think it has been 2 or 3 years since I bought myself anything, other than underwear! :) AND next week Shao & I are going, with a friend and her mom, to an indoor waterpark in Waterbury, where we used to live. I can't wait...I LOVE the water!!! It should be a blast. It is open from 10 AM to 10 PM, so we will be there for quite awhile! Not the whole time, but it will be fun! It is a little pricey, but actually a lot less than I thought it would be.
And I knew it would be something Shao would love. Not to mention me! :)

So that's pretty much the happenings around here. I am thankful for my improving health, for a warm house, for a precious daughter. Life is good.

Thankful Thursday

You know, it makes it easier to jump in and blog a little, when you have these "themes" for some days! SOOO...thankfulness. I'm full of it! :)

I am thankful...first and foremost, for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus! For His redemptive work in my life, and for His mercy to me, a sinner. For the Holy Spirit Who dwells within me, helping me to live this life IN HIM.

I am thankful to live in this amazing country, The United States of America. Where I can walk out of my house and go anywhere I want, and no one questions it. I can worship freely with my amazing church family anytime I wish. I am thankful for the people who KEEP this country that way...for our servicemen and women who put their lives in harms way on a daily...no, hourly...um, maybe MINUTE by MINUTE basis, so that I can keep these freedoms. I am not only thankful for those who currently serve, but for those who have served in the past, since the founding of this great land. I think of my Dad, whom I miss dearly, who led his platoon onto the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, in WWII. Of his bravery, and all those who followed him.

I am thankful for my family, but MOST especially for my precious daughter, a gift beyond measure, priceless and cherished. I often think that if I could have had free rein in China, to pick ANY child I wanted, I could NEVER have chosen as well as God did, when He gave me the gift of ShaoXi. Blessings abound!

I am thankful for every day that I wake up and LIVE my life.

Oh, I have so much more...but time flies by, and I need to get to work! A job...another thing to be thankful for!
